Journey of the Heart—Thoughts of Faith
For from Him and through Him and to Him are all things. To Him be the glory forever.
Elohim is the primary Hebrew word used for God in the Old Testament. El means mighty or strong. The him indicates a plural ending, meaning more than one. Elohim refers to God as the Creator of everything.
Therefore, in Genesis 1:26 God(Elohim) said, “Let Us make man in Our image . . .”
Our God is the Creator of all things. He has given you and me life. Have you ever wondered why He created you? For what purpose? I have wondered about His purpose for me.
Is it snowing where you live today? You have been created much like a snowflake for each flake is beautiful and unique, one of a kind.
And you, too, have been created, unique and beautiful, for His glory.
What does that mean? For His glory? What is glory?
Glory means to give a correct estimate or opinion of. In this case, in glorifying God you live in a way before the rest of His creation that brings glory to His name—Elohim.
Revelation 4:11 Worthy art Thou, our Lord and our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for Thou didst create all things, and because of Thy will they existed and were created.
The King James Version translates will as pleasure and that because of His pleasure you were created and exist. If you do His will, you bring Him pleasure.
Sometimes when life gets to be hard and overwhelming, I may ask how this situation or anything I do could bring God glory. Routinely I examine myself to see if I am fulfilling the purpose of God’s creation of me—His will for me in these areas:
- As a wife
- As a mother
- In my profession
- In my friendships
- In family relationships
- With my time
- With my resources
- In ministry
- In my writing
How about you? Are you fulfilling the purpose of your creation?
What keeps you from being or doing what you were created to do or be to bring glory to Elohim, your Creator?
What changes or steps is He calling you to make this year to fulfill His will for you, His creation?
- More time in His Word or in communion with Him?
- Increased fellowship, worship or accountability with like-minded believers?
- Forgiveness in a difficult relationship?
- Faith despite circumstances? Faith to step out in a new direction?
- Are there people you need to reach out to?
- Growth that needs to take place—professionally, relationally, spiritually?
- Is your heart, mind and body fully submitted to Him and His desires in every area of our life?
How will you give glory to your Elohim today?
